Is ADBWIEN a private practice?

How quickly can I get an appointment for an initial consultation?

We will endeavor to offer you an appointment within three days.

No, as we highly prioritize discretion. Our practice is designed to ensure that clients do not encounter one another. When you arrive, the therapy room is already prepared for you.

The duration of therapy depends on your individual situation. In the first few sessions, you and your therapist will develop a strategy and determine an approximate timeframe.

How long does therapy last?

How long is a therapy session at ADBWIEN?

Each session lasts 60 minutes, just like in everyday life.

What are the differences between a psychiatrist, neurologist, psychotherapist, and psychologist?

Psychotherapists undergo a state-approved multi-year training program, including a preparatory and specialized phase.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who complete additional years of specialist training in psychiatry and psychotherapy.

Neurologists focus on neurological disorders, such as strokes, chronic pain, and spinal conditions. In Vienna, people often say they are going to a neurologist for depression, but psychiatry and neurology are now separate fields.

Psychotherapists undergo a state-approved multi-year training program, including a preparatory and specialized phase.Psychologists have studied psychology and often work in various fields. Clinical psychologists specialize in psychological diagnostics and work directly with patients.

When do I need a psychiatrist vs. a psychotherapist?

Psychiatrists specialize in diagnosing mental illnesses and prescribing medication, while psychotherapists focus on talk therapy and collaborate with psychiatrists when medication is required. The initial consultation helps determine the best therapeutic approach for you.

Is couples therapy available?

Where do sessions take place

What does discretion mean in a city like Vienna?

Vienna has a small-town atmosphere, where people often run into each other. If we happen to cross paths in public, we will not greet you to maintain discretion — unless you explicitly request otherwise.

Our sessions take place at our practice in the first district at Herrengasse 6-8 and, upon request, also online.

How often do sessions take place?

Please cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, the session will be charged in full.
